Laser Hair Reduction (LHR)

Succesful Surgery

Temporary methods of hair removal like shaving and waxing are not only cumbersome, but they may also create issues like Ingrowth hairs and itchy post-procedure boils. Hence, pain-free, permanent laser hair reduction is a boon for many. This involves the conversion of diode light energy into heat at the hair roots to burn down the hairs permanently. Here is all you need to know about it:

More about the technology:

Modern lasers use a triple wavelength output to simultaneously attack hairs at different levels. Most good lasers, like ours, have a high power output, shorter treatment time and significantly lower discomfort than the older lasers. They are safer for dark skin and more effective against relatively finer hairs. We regularly upgrade our technology to ensure that you get the benefits of all the latest developments.

Who can get it done?

Anyone who has thick hair and wants reduction can get it done. Advisable to start after the age of 16 so that hormones have stabilized and results are more predictable. Grey hairs are not targeted by LHR and are dealt with differently. Thick hairs respond better than fine hairs. Those with hormonal imbalances may require more sessions and simultaneous medical intervention for the management of hormonal issues.

FAQs:

Number of sessions
Everyone requires a minimum of 6-8 sessions for a particular body part. Those without hormonal imbalances usually do not require more than 10 sessions. There are multiple factors that determine the outcome and hence it isn’t possible to predict the number of sessions required at the beginning.
The minimum gap between 2 sessions is 4 weeks. Your hair needs to be maximally grown for the next session to work effectively. Hence, the gap between sessions increases over time when the growth slows down. If you are not available on time for your next session, you may increase the gap at your convenience. An increased gap does NOT reduce the efficiency of the treatment. If you wish to manage hair growth between sessions, you may shave as and when needed. If you need to wax for a cleaner look for an important event, you may do it, but note that your next session gets postponed till your hair regrows completely again.
Growth is first evaluated by me to assess the best-suited laser parameters for you and to ensure that your skin is ready for the session. Hairs are first shaved to ensure all energy is absorbed by the roots. While you may experience mild heat or a pricking sensation during the session, our laser is relatively painless and is equipped with an excellent ice-cooling tip. To give you a rough idea about the time taken: underarms take 5 mins, the back takes about30-40min and legs take approximately 40-60 minutes.
You may have mild redness or tiny bumps on the treated area for a few hours. You may have mild itching for 2 to 3 days in the following week if your hair growth is too thick. You may go to work immediately after your session but it is advisable to avoid exposure to excess heat or sweat for 48 hours. Your burnt hair roots can pop out after 2 to 5 days of the laser and these may be mistaken for rapid regrowth of hair. These burnt hairs shed on their own or can be pulled out with a tweezer.

Use a moisturizer and sunscreen regularly.
